When Destination Technology Becomes a Revenue Generator

Travel Pendleton represents one of the strongest examples of our philosophy: destination technology should not simply cost money. Done correctly, it can create experiences, generate first-party visitor engagement and produce revenue that goes back into tourism.

Challenge

A destination with stories no brochure could carry.

Pendleton needed a stronger digital destination presence while also creating ways for visitors to discover its history, purchase event tickets and experience attractions beyond traditional brochures and websites.

Local events were also sending ticket buyers to outside marketplaces that extracted fees from the community, with no visitor data left behind for the destination.

Solution

A destination platform that earns its keep.

Our work included comprehensive tourism website and branding design, website development, an interactive Passportage Bronze Trail audio experience, custom event ticketing technology and immersive 3D tourism content.

Rather than sending local events to an outside ticketing marketplace, we developed TPendletonTickets.com as a custom ticketing platform owned by the tourism organization. Events sold their tickets through the destination platform, allowing ticketing fees to remain within the local tourism economy.

Inside the project

What we built.

Bronze Trail

Passportage technology created an interactive way for visitors to explore Pendleton's bronze statues and hear the stories behind them, turning public art into a self-guided visitor experience.

Pendleton Underground

We produced immersive 3D filming of the Pendleton Underground Tour, allowing people to experience the attraction virtually from home through an app.

Own the ticketing economy

A destination-owned ticketing platform kept fees, customer relationships and first-party visitor data inside the community instead of a national marketplace.

Outcome

Approximately $30,000 in ticketing fee revenue was generated for the tourism organization and could be reinvested into tourism marketing — while trails, audio stories and virtual tours gave visitors reasons to explore further.
